Week 8

Oh ANVILL................

It was quite an experience, browsing the ANVILL website for hours and trying to put the pieces up till a comprehensible material shows up...
Clipart Girl Tangled In Her Yo Yo String Royalty Free Vector Illustration by Ron LeishmanI guess the more complicated the tool, the more you want to use it the more it takes time. I felt somewhat like learning to use the wiki spaces - the website has it all, nevertheless, it takes time to put that all into one's head... time to learn bits and pieces.... and then while still trying to comprehend the whole picture it suddenly dawns on you, that this is not the end yet... after having mastered this site, you still need to teach it to your students and to teach it simply not overwhelming them with loads of information -- that's a constant challenge of a teacher -- learning the difficult - teaching it simply.

Peer review
It was so unexpected to suddenly find it so much more than reading about a project.... much more than learning about the different application of IT tools... much more than simply learning about the improvements in a class. I was amazed at suddenly getting in touch with a real different culture. Finding myself sitting in a hot large classroom, or thinking how one can modify a strict schedule. Thanks to Nyinondi  and Wesonga  I got the opportunity to sit in a Tanzanian classroom and to breath the air of Kenya. Great to work in an international classroom!

  1. Hi Lina:

It always impresses me the nice way you share your thoughts and present your posts here.So motivating and engaging! I agree that, at the beginning, trying to get the whole idea of ANVILL, and putting the pieces together, is not easy. The truth is, I still need to clarify how certain things work, but from what I have read in the articles and in Jeff Magoto' s posts in Nicenet, it is a very complete course system that seems to have everything a learner needs to learn a language. It is a real advantage to have everything grouped there for your classes. This certainly needs more search but I guess it would work well in any classroom with a good internet connection.

    Best regards

  2. Dear Lina,

I'm amazed that you already started building exercises for ANVILL, good job! You are right, teachers just have to keep clicking and eventually there will be results. Luckily, the Internet does not break easily ;)

    1. Dear Anna,
no I haven't started creating my own exercises on ANVILL yet, however I tried various exercises that you can do while being log in as a guest user, with the account we have been given.. and it took me time to find, understand and do it :)

  3. Hello Lina,

I really like your reflection for Week 8. It looks great. Week 8 was so fabulous. I really like all tools which we discovered during this week. They are very rewarding both for students and teachers. I also prefer ANVILL. It's a great tool for learning and teaching.
Peer Review was also an interesting part of Week 8. We all found out about each other so many facts. It was great.

    Best regards

    Rade
